Every comparison on PartsMatchup follows the same method so you can judge it for yourself.
1. Same day, same location
We check both stores on the same date, using each store’s public website in normal browsing, without signing in. Store websites show prices for a selected store, so we state which stores we used; our current checks used AutoZone at 4915 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida, and Advance Auto Parts at 904 N State St, Bunnell, Florida. Your local price can differ.
2. Matching equivalent parts
Where both stores sell the same item, we match it by manufacturer part number (for example, Mobil 1 128650 or Bosch ICON 22A). Where each store sells its own brand, we match by tier and published specs: Duralast Gold with DieHard Gold, Duralast Platinum AGM with DieHard Platinum AGM, Duralast brake pads with Carquest brake pads in the same fitment. Each matchup row is labeled with what was matched.
3. What a price includes
Prices are the item price shown on the store’s site on the check date, before tax. Refundable battery core charges are listed separately. Sale prices are marked, with the regular price where the store shows it. If a store blocks our check or does not carry an equivalent, we say so and leave the price out rather than estimate it.
4. Store policies and deals
Return windows, loaner tool terms, rewards and free services are quoted from each store’s official pages, with the date and a source link. Deals and promo codes come only from the stores’ own deals pages and site banners, never from coupon aggregators, and they disappear from our pages on their published end date.
5. Recommendations
Best-of picks are based on published specifications, warranty length and price. We do not run lab or road tests, so we do not publish star ratings or Review markup, and we say who each pick suits and who should skip it.
6. Updates and corrections
We refresh prices and deals at least monthly and sooner when an offer ends. Each page shows its last update date. If you spot an error, use the contact form; we correct verified errors promptly and note significant changes. See also our editorial policy and AI usage policy.
