Our best car battery picks are based on what AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts publish: cold cranking amps (CCA), reserve capacity, warranty and the price on November 2, 2026, shown here for Group 48 (H6), one of the most common sizes. We did not lab-test batteries. Your vehicle’s group size and battery type come first; a “best” battery that does not fit or is the wrong type is the wrong battery.
Best AGM battery: Duralast Platinum AGM or DieHard Platinum AGM
Both list 760 CCA and 120 minutes of reserve capacity, and both carry a 4-year free replacement warranty at $264.99. AGM batteries handle the deep cycling of start-stop systems and heavy electrical loads better than flooded batteries, and replacing an AGM with a flooded battery can cause problems in cars designed for AGM.

Best value: DieHard Gold or Duralast Gold
For cars without start-stop, the Gold tier gives a 3-year free replacement for $219.99 at either store. DieHard Gold H6 lists 750 CCA and Duralast Gold H6 lists 730 CCA, both with 115 minutes of reserve capacity. Advance lists free installation with purchase on most vehicles; for Group 24F, Duralast Gold was $25 cheaper.
Best sale pick: DieHard Platinum (flooded) H6
When we checked, Advance had the DieHard Platinum 48H6-RP, a flooded battery with 730 CCA and a 4-year warranty, on sale for $142.25 instead of $234.99. That is a 4-year warranty for less than the 3-year Gold. It is not an AGM, so it is only for cars that do not require one. Sales like this rotate; check the deals page.
Best budget pick: Econocraft H6
AutoZone’s Econocraft Group 48 was the cheapest battery we found at $99.99, $25 less than the DieHard Red at Advance. The listing did not show its warranty term, so ask the store and weigh it against a 1-year DieHard Red or a 2-year DieHard Silver. More options are in cheapest car battery.
